Otto Lindner, third of the 5 sons of the company founder and entrepreneur Otto Lindner, initially trained as a professional pilot in Germany and the USA after graduating from high school.
The former Bundesliga water polo player spent his time in the Bundeswehr at the Bundeswehr Sports School in Warendorf. After training as a commercial assistant in the hotel and restaurant industry and subsequently working as an assistant to the management at the Lindner Hotel Rheinstern in Dusseldorf, Otto Lindner studied business administration at the University of Cologne.
The business graduate was appointed to the management of Rheinstern Hotel GmbH in 1988 and to the board of Lindner Hotels AG, the legal successor of Rheinstern Hotel GmbH, in October 1990. Since 2016 year, Otto Lindner has represented the hotel industry as Chairman of the German Hotel Association (IHA). He is also spokesman of the board of Destination Dusseldorf.
In 1999, Otto Lindner was elected Hotelier of the Year by a jury of experts. In the jury's statement, it was said that this was an award for the innovative efforts made for the Lindner brand.
