Bike routes over one hour Mallorca
Mallorca is a paradise for cyclists: varied routes, a very well developed infrastructure and patient drivers.
Thus, every spring attracts tens of thousands of professionals, amateurs and hobby cyclists to the island to prepare for the season. But it doesn't always have to be hard training - the most beautiful bike tours on Mallorca are the ones where you get to know the country and its people, make a stop here and there, and indulge in some culinary delights.
This medium-difficulty bike tour leads from the Lindner Hotel to Calvia, on via Es Capdella, down the green valley to the tourist town of Paguera and back to the hotel via the Passeig de Calvia. A good basic condition is required on the 33-kilometer route, for which you can plan a whole day.
The tour starts on the Passeig of Calvia towards Portals, a bike and pedestrian path that connects Paguera with Palma, and passes directly by the Lindner Hotel. The well-marked path (sandy yellow underground) you follow about 10 kilometers until you reach the windmill of Santa Ponsa. Here you go into the hinterland! After the industrial area, which you leave to the right, a small road with little traffic leads to Calvia. Almond orchards, horse paddocks and the prominent peak of Puig de Galatzo characterize the picture.
The village of Calvia is the seat of the entire municipality, one of the richest in Spain, as you can see from the oversized church. The municipality stretches along the coast from Paguera to Bendinat to Illetas, making it a front-runner for hotel deals. Pay a visit to the church and head back along the small road, marked with wooden signs, that leads to Es Capdella.
Alternatively, you can turn around here and thus have only a total distance of 25 km.
If you decide to take the longer route, the next stop is in Es Capdella. The small village at the foot of the highest peak in the southwest of Mallorca is a transit station for numerous cycling groups and popular for its simple, but quite popular restaurant "Bar Nou". Here, probably the largest sole on the island, rabbit with onions, tumbet and other local specialties are served. A hearty homemade alioli and a glass of good wine are the ideal refreshment for the rest of the route.
The tour now leads relaxed downhill through the "Green Valley" to Paguera. A swim stop at the bay La Romana awakens new strength. Leave the bike and swing into the waves. This is good for your muscles and refreshes you!
The bike tour continues on the Passeig de Calvia back to the mill of Santa Ponsa and via Portals to the Lindner Golf Resort.
Visit the noble marina, designed by star architect Philipp Starck. Right next to the harbor is a beautiful sandy beach and numerous restaurants and bars provide refreshments. Return in a small arc via the tourist town of Santa Ponsa.
