Getting there by car

Leukerbad is easily accessible by road all year round.

We recommend that guests from Germany and German-speaking parts of Switzerland take the car-train to Lötschberg (39 km) or the Furka pass (93 km).

  • From western Switzerland: Take the motorway towards Martigny - Sion, from there to leuk/Susten and then follow the signs to Leukerbad.
  • From the area around Lake Lucerne and eastern Switzerland: Take the motorway towards Kandersteg, then take the car-train to Goppenstein-Gampel. From there: Sion - Susten - Leuk - Leukerbad
  • From Italy: Take the motorway over the Simplon to Brig; then Gampel - Susten - Leuk - Leukerbad.
  • Next city: Sion approx. 40 km (approx. 40 min.)

Getting there by train and bus

Most of the SBB express trains to Visp - Sion / Sion - Visp stop in Leuk. From Leuk you can take a bus to Leukerbad (approx. 30 min.).

NEW: Since 9 December 2007, travelling to the Valais by train has become even faster and more comfortable due to the opening of the Lötschberg train tunnel.

For example, trains from Zurich airport to Leukerbad leave every hour, and the trip takes only 3 hours and 10 min.
